Meet My Client
The Consortium for Innovative Environments in Learning (CIEL) is a working group of thirteen institutions and programs that trace their roots to the best of innovative and reform practice in American higher education.
Project Overview
As a network of many, very distinct institutions, it is imperative that CIEL has a strong brand identity, so none of the member institutions’ brand consumes the consortium’s identity and purpose. For this project, I conducted an audit of CIEL’s website as its website is the main form of communication to its target audience.

Currently, this visual is used on the CIEL website and can be used on other collateral.
Collecting Usable Data
In addition to an audit of the current website, I conducted interviews with CIEL representatives, analyzed the websites of two similar consortia, and consulted best practice research in branding and consortia.
Data-driven Recommendations
The research led me to recommend ways in which the website would communicate more clearly and effectively. I also crafted a brand positioning statement that brings the vision for CIEL to the forefront of the brand: the members and students of CIEL are contributing to the dialogue of American higher education.
